A windbreaker is traditionally made from a thin, windproof fabric to keep the wind out, as the name suggests. It has a loose fit, allowing it to be comfortably worn as an outer layer. You can sew it from lightweight raincoat fabrics, but also from softshell or coat fabrics. It is fully lined but can also be made without a lining. Of course, the pattern includes the typical front pocket, and you can optionally add side pockets as well.
