The lower part is made of ceramic and offers a mini stock clearance for storing potatoes, onions, beetroot and other root vegetables, as well as unripe fruit. The natural properties of cork help to keep fruit fresh and edible for longer by keeping pesky fruit flies away. The ceramic base protects the vegetables from light and together with the insulating properties of the cork lid, it maintains a constant temperature, just like a cellar. The three holes in the base prevent excessive moisture. The cork lid is water-repellent and easy to clean with a damp cloth.
