The Ball Mason Jar - the all-rounder in the household
In the USA, it's hard to imagine a household without the mason jar. This versatile all-rounder is used for preserving fruit, keeping food fresh, as a water glass, or as a flower vase. The special feature of mason jars, available in many different sizes, is the screw cap. Various lids and attachments fit onto the screw cap, allowing you to transform the jars into airtight preserving jars, practical containers, or spray bottles.

When tradition becomes trendy
Although currently very trendy, the mason jar is not a modern invention. John Landis Mason patented his reusable and resealable jars in the United States back in 1858. Shortly afterward, mason jars replaced the systems that had been common up to that point, in which tin lids were sealed with beeswax.
Twenty years later, the patent protection expired, and other manufacturers had free rein to use Mason's designs. While some manufacturers produced plagiarized products, others acquired licenses. One of these licensed manufacturers was the Ball Brothers, who gave their name to the iconic Ball Mason Jar.
There were hundreds of different resealable jars in the early 20th century, but very few have made it to modern times. The Ball Mason Jar is one of them. The bulbous shape not only gives the jar its characteristic appearance but also makes it comfortable to hold. The basic design has never changed, which is probably one of the reasons for its timeless success.
The Mason Jar comes in many sizes
