What is end grain wood?
End grain cutting boards are made from the end pieces of wood. They typically feature a checkerboard pattern, which is the main characteristic that identifies them as end grain cutting boards. Although this type of cutting board is somewhat more expensive, many consider it valuable because it is better for knives. End grain cutting boards have a "self-healing factor," as the fibers close up after being cut by a knife.

We use a food-safe linseed oil finish to treat our products. There are many benefits to using linseed oil, and here are just a few:

• The oil enhances the color of the wood and highlights the grain, giving the wood a more textured appearance.
• It is non-toxic and therefore very environmentally friendly.
• It prevents the wood from cracking by stopping it from drying out.
• It helps to cover up some scratches.
• The oil penetrates deep into the wood and forms a good protective barrier against the elements.
