Fatman was designed by Marcel Wanders, who focused on decoration by creating a type of colorful clothing to envelop the tiered stand. This makes the object versatile: when closed, it serves as a table sculpture, and when open, it becomes a multi-layered stand for serving at the table. In this sense, Fatman is not just a foldable object, as it does not simply lose its function as a container when closed, but transforms into a figure to be admired. The colorful decoration designed by Wanders further emphasizes the formal effect of the object through its round shape. As the name suggests, Fatman has the features of a corpulent person, with clothing reminiscent of a clown's attire.
