Alessi's collection for Fall/Winter 2012 features several new names, particularly young foreign designers. In the fall of 2009, a workshop was organized at the renowned Cranbrook Academy of Art in Cranbrook, Michigan. The academy was founded by George Booth in the early 1930s and was led by Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen. The workshop was directed by Scott Klinker, who focused on American product design rooted in the tradition of silver and metalworking. Of the projects developed, a total of four went into production and are now included in the Alessi catalog. Among them is the versatile "V Tray," designed by Adam Shirley.
