It was a wonderful night, a night that perhaps can only happen when we are young, dear reader. On this night, two lonely figures meet in Petersburg: the narrator, a half-sick city dweller and an out-of-touch dreamer, and the young, naive Nastenka, who desperately awaits the return of her beloved. From this chance encounter, a friendship filled with affection develops. Over four nights, they engage in intense dialogues and provide each other with comfort. However, their dream cannot withstand reality. Dostoevsky's novella was first published in 1848 and is considered one of the most beautiful love stories in world literature.
