Ways and Detours with Friedrich Dürrenmatt Volumes 1,2 and 3 in slipcase

As a budding student, Friedrich Dürrenmatt wrote to his father in 1941: "It is not a question of deciding whether I will become a performing artist or not, because that is not decided, but one becomes one out of necessity. [...] The problem is quite different for me. Should I paint or write? Torn between painting and literature, Dürrenmatt decided to become a writer, but he always drew and painted throughout his life. Apart from a few caricatures and book illustrations, however, his pictorial work remained unknown for a long time. Also because he never sold any pictures during his life and practically never exhibited. Nevertheless, he considers literature and visual art to be equal parts of his creative work. For the pictures, he said himself, were for him the experimental fields of his writing. Wege und Umwege mit Friedrich Dürrenmatt is published on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
