Blum is a funeral director and a loving mother of two children. She is characterized by her big heart, her dark humor, and her cool demeanor. Blum rides a motorcycle, enjoys drinking, and is happily married. Her life is good until it falls apart due to the accidental death of her husband, a police officer. Right before her eyes, Mark is run over – a hit-and-run. Everything shatters. Blum mourns but refuses to accept her fate. The most important thing in her life is suddenly gone: her stability, her happiness. By chance, she discovers that there is more to her husband's accident than meets the eye and that five influential people wanted his death.
