In a small library in Central Anatolia, built 250 years ago by a collector of ancient manuscripts, lies - hidden in a mislabeled box - an ancient manuscript of the ending of "One Thousand and One Nights." This sensational discovery is made accessible to the public for the first time by Claudia Ott with her translation. Until now, almost nothing was known about the conclusion of the frame story of the clever Scheherazade, who prevents King Shahryar from killing her through her tales. The complete Arabic manuscripts, which only emerged under European influence in the 19th century, almost completely omit the frame story. For the first time, the last 125 nights of the cycle and the detailed conclusion are now available in an Arabic version that is many centuries older.
