The law is meant to protect all people. Or is it? Tessa Ensler is the most striking among the young defense attorneys in London. She does not come from one of those esteemed families with old money. She has escaped a background of domestic violence and worked her way up from the working class. Today, she defends men accused of sexual assault, among others. Her way of cross-examining witnesses – the alleged victims – is legendary and becomes her ticket into the inner circle of the bar associations. It seems she has made it. But then something happens that deeply shakes her faith in the law, and she decides to take the stand herself.
