The Origins of the Riddler

Edward Nashton is an eccentric loner with a penchant for numbers and puzzles. In his job as a forensic accountant for Gotham City, he seems to be just the right man for the job. However, his game with numbers leads him to uncover a massive conspiracy involving the powerful figures of Gotham. No one believes Edward when he claims that millions are being moved and laundered. Therefore, Edward sets out on his own quest to find the masterminds behind it all. At the same time, a dark figure is causing a stir in Gotham: Batman, a masked vigilante who hunts criminals on his own. Edward sees him as a role model as he ultimately dons a mask himself and declares war on the corrupt city as the Riddler.

Actor and screenwriter Paul Dano portrayed the supervillain Riddler in the blockbuster The Batman. Now he has written the prequel to one of the most successful DC Comics adaptations in recent years. Illustrated by European comic artist Stevan Subic, who makes his US debut with this ambitious graphic novel.
