The standard work for pipeline and sewer builders, as well as for civil engineering specialists in these fields, has been thoroughly revised and updated for the 6th edition. The textbook builds on the learning fields of the basic level and continues the work with learning fields at the specialized levels. Where the learning fields for pipeline and sewer builders differ, both learning fields have been included and appropriately marked.

This book also introduces a project at the beginning of the learning fields, which supports practical and action-oriented teaching and makes the connection between the trades and tasks visible. In the development of the learning fields, the relationships to the project regarding motivation, content presentation, and project tasks at the end of each learning field are clearly outlined. The clear explanations with numerous examples and the simple, target-group-oriented language particularly characterize this work. The additional structuring of the content through appropriate coloring, the colored illustrations developed from didactic and methodological perspectives, and the numerous current colored photos enhance motivation and contribute to improved learning success.

Here are the most important changes compared to the previous edition:

As more and more technical regulations and standards have switched to the new unit Pascal for pressure and mechanical stress, this unit has now been consistently applied, while the respective previous unit is generally still indicated. As part of the update, over 65 illustrations have been replaced or added. In learning field 8, documentation and exchange of basic data regarding the underground situation in construction have been taken into account. Additionally, there has been a stronger focus on environmental protection issues. In learning field 9, the current DIN 4034 (shafts made of concrete and steel fiber) has been considered, among other things.
