Product details
Through their mutual acquaintance with Teo Jakob, a very fruitful collaboration between Robert Haussmann and the Röthlisberger cabinetmakers came about in the 1950s. Between 1960 and 1977, special individual pieces of furniture and interior fittings were created, such as a simple sofa table with a glass top made of marbrit glass or a store for IBM in Bern. After the recession in the seventies, the Röthlisberger family business broke away from its dependence on large-scale buyers and developed its own collections in collaboration with various renowned designers such as Teo Jakob, Koni Ochsner, Ueli Wieser, Hans Eichenberger and, of course, Trix and Robert Haussmann, always combining craftsmanship and industrial production and giving the designers as free a hand as possible. The first presentation of the furniture in 1977 was already a great success, and the collection soon established itself; every five years, eight to twelve new pieces were edited. With Trix and Robert Haussmann, many experiments of artistic and handcrafted furniture were created from 1979 on. They were distributed not as furniture, but as 'objects' - in limited numbers of 15 each: column stump, column cabinet, wall commode, and bridge desk. All objects were each made in olive ash burl and color coated. This publication presents the furniture from the Röthlisberger collection developed in the Allgemeine Entwurfsanstalt by Trix and Robert Haussmann.
