The standard work for training in the fields of agricultural and construction machinery technology, as well as forestry, gardening, and municipal technology, has been extensively updated for its 21st edition. Current developments in technology and standardization have been taken into account, and selected technical details have been added. The proven structure of the content has been maintained in the new edition.

Cross-disciplinary topics include: fundamentals of manufacturing and processing components, electrical engineering and electronics, engine technology, and drive technology. Topic areas with relevant occupational-specific content include: hydraulics, chassis technology, and complex control and regulation systems. Occupational-specific topics focus on: assemblies and components of machines, machines, devices, and systems of agricultural machinery technology, machines, devices, and systems of construction machinery technology, and machines, devices, and systems of forestry, gardening, and municipal technology. Wherever possible, the structure and function of technology are closely linked to maintenance (diagnosis and repair). Important mathematical learning content is addressed in the individual chapters to provide students with clear associations. For the 21st edition, all illustrations have been reviewed and, if necessary, revised or replaced to optimally present the technical content. Updates and expansions of the technical content have been made in several areas, including: manufacturing technology (straightening), lighting technology (LED), power supply (battery technology), exhaust technology (SCR), control and regulation systems (power-split transmission), data transmission (bus systems), drive technology (dual-clutch transmission), chassis technology (tire pressure control systems, rubber band drives), and agricultural machinery technology (potato planting and harvesting machinery technology, slurry technology), as well as machines and devices for cleaning.
