Warshawski and Quantum Physics. A dilapidated farmhouse in the prairie, used as a drug lab for years. Inside, not a soul in sight, just an ancient photo and a shot Rottweiler. Vic Warshawski follows a fresh tire track and discovers a corpse, eaten by crows, in a nearby cornfield. But it’s not the person she’s looking for. Back in Chicago, the detective continues her search for the missing addict Judy Binder, whose son, a young computer whiz, has also disappeared. His employer in the IT industry is extremely concerned about his corporate secrets and is willing to pull some powerful strings. However, Vic Warshawski has never been easy to ensnare. She persistently digs deeper and eventually finds a lead that goes far back into the past. But then there are deaths, and the mystery becomes increasingly convoluted: What does the junkie woman know?.
