Flora lives with her mom and her two older brothers in a run-down high-rise neighborhood on the outskirts of the city. She spends more time outside than in school – but certainly not because she enjoys being in nature. Flora is bullied and reacts either by fighting back or running away, or sometimes both. When she encounters a strange old woman and her two giant donkeys during one of her escape attempts in an abandoned garden colony, she has no idea that her life will change dramatically from that day on: With the stubborn donkey foal Jukli in tow, Flora learns a lot about family ties, Roma culture, donkeys, and surprisingly, about herself on a road trip across France.
