Klaus Böldl, born in 1964 in Passau, made his debut in 1997 with the novel "Study in Crystal Formation." Since then, he has published the short story "South of Abisko," the poetic travel book "The Distant Islands," his book about Passau "Three Rivers," and the novels "The Nocturnal Teacher" and "The Breath of Birds." For his literary work, Klaus Böldl has received the Tukan Prize, the Brothers Grimm Prize, the Hermann Hesse Literature Prize, and the Friedrich Hebbel Prize. He teaches medieval Scandinavian literature at the University of Kiel.

Andreas Vollmer was a lecturer in Icelandic at Humboldt University in Berlin and translates Icelandic literature. In medieval studies, he focuses on issues of transmission and edition of medieval texts.

Julia Zernack is a professor of Scandinavian studies at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt. Her research interests include medieval literature of Scandinavia and Iceland, as well as its afterlife in modern times.

Betty Wahl translates from Icelandic and is a freelance lecturer in Old and Modern Icelandic. She has translated authors such as Sjón, Gyrðir Eliasson, and Jón Gnarr, and was involved in the new translation of the Icelandic sagas in 2011. Gradually, she shifted her center of life towards Iceland. Today, she lives and works alternately in Reykjavík and Frankfurt am Main.
