Hermann Eidenbenz

The new series "Visual Archive" - in collaboration with ECAL / University of Art and Design Lausanne - focuses on the archives of designers, authors, and brands that have previously been neglected or insufficiently studied. These documents are, so to speak, awakened from their slumber - images are retrieved from the archives, often unpublished, unseen, or not publicly accessible, as they belong to private collections or have only recently been acquired by public institutions. Short essays accompany these visual materials, providing reference and context: they are the result of research projects conducted within ECAL. The first volume of the series is dedicated to the teaching activities of Swiss graphic designer Hermann Eidenbenz (1902-1993). As one of the first to feel a sense of belonging to this profession, he went through various phases.
