Product details

Wilhelm Busch, born on April 15, 1832, in Wiedensahl near Hanover and died on January 9, 1908, in Mechtshausen near Seesen. He abandoned his mechanical engineering studies in Hanover in 1847 and instead enrolled at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art. From 1852 to 1853, he continued his studies in Antwerp and moved to Munich in 1854, where he stayed until 1868. From 1869 to 1872, he lived in Frankfurt am Main, then returned to Wiedensahl, until he moved to Mechtshausen to live with his nephew in 1898. As a painter, he was unable to establish himself, but he succeeded as a draftsman and caricaturist. With "Max and Moritz" (1865), the era of picture stories began. Wilhelm Busch also made a name for himself as a lyricist.
