Product details
Hafiz, born around 1320 in Shiraz, is the most famous Persian poet. The "Diwan" (which originally means: collection) is his most significant work. His sensuous verses were popular during his lifetime, memorized, and often recited. Johann Wolfgang Goethe was inspired by the first complete translation of the "Diwan," published by Cotta in 1812/13 with over a thousand pages, to create his "West-Eastern Divan." This volume offers a selection of the most beautiful poems.
