Intellectual property law is a complex and dynamic field of law. The societal significance of legal issues and the ongoing development of legal foundations, as well as jurisprudence and scholarship, have led to a differentiation of the individual areas. This book nonetheless attempts to present Swiss intellectual property law in its entirety. The focus is on the four central rights of protection: patent law, copyright law, design law, and trademark law. Questions of legal transactions and legal protection are also briefly addressed. This book is primarily aimed at students, but it may also provide practitioners with initial insights and serve as an entry point for a more in-depth engagement. Given the breadth and complexity of the legal issues, the discussions are limited to the fundamentals of the central rights of protection. However, certain questions are examined in greater depth, particularly where a holistic view of intellectual property law allows for connections to other rights of protection that prove helpful in clarifying contentious issues.
