Ally d'Aplièse stands at a turning point: her career as a sailor is reaching a peak, and she has found the man with whom all her dreams can come true. Then, she receives the completely unexpected news of her beloved father's death. Ally returns to the family estate on Lake Geneva to cope with the shock alongside her sisters. They were all adopted as little girls and do not know the place of their origin. But now, Ally receives a mysterious clue through a book in her father's library - the biography of a 19th-century Norwegian composer. Ally's curiosity is piqued, and she embarks on a journey to the rugged land in the north.
