Die Sonnenposition

The round-faced Rhinelander Altfried Janich finds a position in the East Castle after reunification, a dilapidated Baroque building that now houses a psychiatric institution. Here, he sees it as his task to take the position of the sun for his patients, to provide them with orientation and a source of comfort. When his friend Odilo dies in a mysterious car accident, he himself falls into the darker side of things. During the day, the patients crowd him too closely, and at night he wanders through the halls, haunted by memories, while his family history with its losses catches up with him. Altfried's entire life seems to lead to the situation in the castle: all stories end here, and soon the certainty arises that he will not be able to leave the castle.
