Product details

Two brothers, not biological brothers but "blood brothers," connected by an oath they made during the Polish underground struggle against the communist regime, go their separate ways after its collapse. One, Mateusz, rises to the highest offices and eventually becomes the Prime Minister of Poland. The other, Adam, builds a career in the European Commission after Poland's EU accession and is responsible for enlargement policy in Brussels. As preparations for the Western Balkans conference in Polish Poznan are in full swing, Adam asks Mateusz for support, but Mateusz begins to undermine Albania's accession request. What was once a deep bond turns into an irreconcilable enmity of European dimensions.

On a cruise organized by the Albanian Prime Minister on the SS Skanderbeg, to which all heads of government from the Balkan states, the EU foreign ministers, and all representatives of the European Union are invited, the two meet again. What happens next is no longer within their control. However, the political conflict between the two blood brothers is merely the framework within which a multitude of fates are decided, bold plans and great life efforts are put to the test, until it culminates in a showdown on the swaying deck of an Albanian cruise ship.
