Der Sommer, in dem alles begann

Hélène, Marguerite, and Odette – three women from three generations whose paths cross in a Breton village, changing everything: Hélène is sixteen and lives in a small village in rocky Finistère. She loves her rugged homeland, her boyfriend Yannick, and the peaceful village life. However, the arrival of Marguerite, the new elegant French teacher from Paris, and her husband Raymond, a charming writer suffering from writer's block, turns everything upside down. Hélène feels drawn to Raymond, while Marguerite secretly searches for her mother, who is said to be from this area. Then there’s Odette, a widow and village shop owner, whose father was murdered during the German occupation. She was sent to Paris in the 1940s, where she was raped as a maid, had to give up her child, and only returned to her hometown years later. The life paths of these three women are closely intertwined and lead to the roots of Breton history.
