Here, children in the 1st and 2nd grades are guided to gain fun and confidence in writing their first sentences and short texts. Through a variety of engaging and motivating exercises, they learn to formulate syntactically correct sentences, purposefully use initial linguistic tools, and plan, write, and revise texts. This way, young writers are gently introduced to essay writing step by step. The following topics, which relate to the children's experiences, are covered: understanding the structure of an essay, planning texts, writing informative texts (labeling items, wish and packing lists), providing directions and descriptions, writing about images, and formulating their own creative stories.
