Das Silmarillion

The Silmarillion tells the story of the events of the First Age, a distant epoch of Middle-earth that the heroes of The Lord of the Rings look back on with reverence. For the first time, it is presented here with over 40 color illustrations by Ted Nasmith. Middle-earth lay in twilight under the stars, a time when the Elves created great things. But the most beautiful of all are the Silmarils, the jewels that contain the light of the trees. The light that is older than the sun and the moon. Yet Melkor, the master of treachery, steals the unique Silmarils.

The Silmarillion is the first work that Christopher Tolkien published after his father's death, according to his father's plans.
