For the proper keeping of poultry, ample space is essential. In addition to daily outdoor access in a spacious free-range enclosure, these animals also require a roomy retreat where they are protected from predators and weather conditions. This chicken coop offers a free-range area as well as a sheltered space for sleeping and can complement a large free-range enclosure and a spacious barn for poultry keeping.

The large chicken coop has external dimensions of 152 x 52 x 92 cm (LxWxH). The chickens access the upper level via a ramp with stepping boards. When the animals need to leave the coop, the large door of the free-range area can be opened. For easy cleaning of the house, the floor is extendable. It contains a galvanized droppings tray that can be easily cleaned and disinfected.

Next to the house, there is a nesting box on the upper level with a base area of 270 x 520 cm. The box is located at the end of the coop complex and allows the chickens to brood in peace. For better control of the nesting spots and easy retrieval of the eggs, the nesting box features a liftable roof. If needed, the roof can be raised and secured in the open position with an integrated holder. This leaves both hands free to conduct the nesting check.

The frame of the coop is made of fir wood, painted in gray and white. The wooden structure is covered with a galvanized, weather-resistant mesh, and the roof is equipped with bitumen insulation to protect the animals from rain.

Note: While chickens are not large animals, they still require enough space to live. Each chicken needs 10 square meters available. Since chickens are not solitary animals, space must be provided for an entire group. A group can consist of one rooster and three to six hens. Therefore, for this group size, at least between 40 and 70 square meters of space is needed.
