Prebiotics serve as a nutrient substrate for beneficial bacterial populations in the large intestine. B vitamins are essential nutrients for metabolism and energy production. If horses suffer from intestinal issues, a low bacterial population in the large intestine can limit the horse's ability to synthesize B vitamins.
