The long line is a special type of dog leash, usually between five and 15 meters long. It is used as a tool in dog training, especially for young animals. It allows the dog to explore and roam freely without leaving them completely unsupervised.

Young dogs, in particular, may not immediately respond to their owner's commands. When they are in their adolescent phase, they test their boundaries, much like children and teenagers. This phase begins around the 9th month; before that, most dogs have a natural follow instinct. By using a long line for training after this period, you give your dog a sense of freedom.

Thanks to the immense length of the long line, they can stray off the path, follow a scent, and perhaps even jump into the water. They may not even notice the line. This way, you provide them with plenty of freedom without losing control.
