Ammonia Alert® is an innovative color device for the continuous detection and monitoring of toxic free ammonia. A sensor reversibly changes from yellow to green to blue depending on the ammonia concentration. The device detects less than 0.05 mg/l (ppm) of free ammonia and alerts you to the number one killer before any signs of stress appear. It lasts over a year. This product is not suitable for use at acidic pH levels. Use in marine or freshwater.

In the absence of free ammonia, the device takes on a yellow or faint yellow-green color. It is normal for the dry sensor to have a greenish tint. It may take a few days for a dry sensor to equilibrate with the water. No water samples, chemicals, or testing procedures are required. The presence of free ammonia can be continuously detected with a response time of about 15 minutes. The response to decreasing ammonia is slower, taking about 4 hours to switch from toxic to safe when the ammonia is removed.
