There is ongoing debate about whether fish can be introduced into a newly set up aquarium just one day after its establishment. Microbiologists have found that bacteria in a new aquarium multiply very slowly if there is no water load (food for the bacteria).

However, if fish are added the next day without a bacterial starter, ammonium and ammonia problems can arise because the bacteria initially multiply too slowly to keep up with the accumulation of pollutants. By using JBL Denitrol (one hour after adding JBL Biotopol), a high quantity of bacteria is introduced.

When the first fish are added the next day, these bacteria also receive food and begin to multiply. Additionally, JBL Denitrol is added during the first ten days, ensuring that there are always enough bacteria present, preventing ammonium and nitrite from becoming an issue.
