Hobby Planarian trap

Planarians (Platyhelminthes), also known as flatworms, are unwelcome guests in aquariums that can pose a danger to some inhabitants. Due to their nocturnal lifestyle, many aquarists are often unaware of the presence of these pests. There are frequent mass reproductions of these creatures, which can then become a plague. In freshwater aquariums, their preferred victims include freshly molted shrimp, small shrimp and their larvae, as well as weak animals, juvenile fish, and eggs. There are also flatworms and planarians in saltwater aquariums that can damage corals and other creatures due to their rapid reproduction. Almost all available chemical aids not only harm the planarians but also the sensitive aquarium residents. The Planaria X effectively captures these pests from the aquarium without the use of chemicals. Attracted by the included bait, the planarians crawl through one of the 8 openings into the trap and cannot escape due to its special design.

Tip: Our Planaria X Special Bait works excellently as bait. If this is not available, frozen food such as red mosquito larvae or Mysis will also work.

Instructions for using Planaria X:

1. Remove the lid of the trap.
2. Open the capsule of the included Planaria X Special Bait and distribute it in the trap.
3. Close the trap and allow it to fill with water in the aquarium.
4. Position the Planaria X at any location with the 8 openings facing down into the substrate.
5. When planarians are visible in the trap, clean the trap and refill it with bait.
