For the first time, Metz Textil & Design breaks with its own tradition – but the Essen-based company does so for a good innovative reason and with a clear green conscience: Instead of using the usual genuine wool felt, Metz Textil & Design opts for Violan, a purely plant-based felt developed through years of meticulous work. The material feels just as high-quality as soft Merino wool felt, but is made from plant residues and wood fibers. It is wonderfully soft to the touch, highly absorbent, allergen-free, biodegradable, and completely non-toxic, allowing even small children to safely put the felt in their mouths! Furthermore, each placemat and any optionally available table runner can be washed with a mild detergent at 30 °C without spinning – even true wool felt fans won't be able to resist!.
