For many, the painting calls into question the existence of the vase as a real object or the artist's imagination. Centuries later, in 1921, a design company named Cappellin Venini & Co was founded by a young Milanese lawyer named Paolo Venini and an antique dealer named Giacomo Capellin, who created the vase depicted in the painting with Vittorio Zecchin and first named it after the artist "Veronese." The vase became so popular that it introduced the name Venini and marked the company's first significant contribution to the design world. In addition to a series of events and museum exhibitions, the company has released a colorful set of 12 of its iconic vases.
