Inspired by distant Eastern travel destinations, Paolo Venini adorned them with precious colors before bringing them to the world for admiration. The journey of the Labuan vase began in 1933 and continues to this day. The major milestone was the reissue in 2019. You can find the Labuan Grande Vase available online here!

Labuan vases are made from mouth-blown glass and handcrafted using the Opalini technique. Lattimo is an opaque white glass that was invented on the island of Murano around the mid-15th century to imitate the first high-fashion porcelain in Europe. This effect is achieved by overlapping Lattimo glass with thinner clear and tinted glass, resulting in brilliant objects with intense and vibrant colors. To enhance the glass with pastel colors, gold and silver leaf were applied to the entire surface, creating a brilliant object known as the LABUAN Grande.
