Poster Sparshott - Assembling a Bicycle
David Sparshott is a UK-based illustrator who completed his studies at the Bristol School of Art & Design in 2006. He creates his drawings using graphite and colored pencils. His works are characterized by a harmonious interplay of playful observations and detailed lines. Reportage and observational drawing are essential components of David's practice. He has worked for various clients, including The New York Times, General Electric, Ride Journal, Rapha, and Magma Books.
Bicycles have been around since about 1817, when they were called draisines. The so-called running machine was invented by Karl Drais and unfortunately fell into obscurity. It wasn't until the second half of the 19th century that running machines re-emerged and evolved into the bicycle we know today. The design illustrates how complex a modern bicycle is. From the individual spokes to the brakes and each screw, David Sparshott has meticulously captured every detail.
The poster is available in various sizes.
