Born in Nuremberg in 1471, the young Dürer already stood out for his great drawing talent.

His self-portraits, the first of which he created at the age of 13, are among the most famous in art history today.

Albrecht Dürer's self-portrait depicts him in the elegant clothing of a patrician. The original self-portrait, featuring a landscape, was created in 1498 and is housed in the Museo del Prado in Madrid. It was painted with oil on wood.
