Normann Copenhagen trace

Trace is an unorthodox, quilted runner that combines a soft appearance with strong graphic patterns and tasteful color combinations. The expressive pattern of the runner was inspired by flowing lines and the traces left in the sand by grass and reeds swaying in the wind. The designers have combined this with timeless geometric shapes to create a design that is bursting with life.

Design duo Sarah Böttger and Hanna Emelie Ernsting explain the idea behind Trace, after wishing for their floor to become an inviting place:

“The floor is an important part of the spaces we use every day. Children learn to crawl on the floor, many people read there, and others find it relaxing to lie down and stretch out. Unfortunately, we often neglect the floor in our decor, which can lead to rather unattractive areas. In contrast, we wanted to create a runner with a new, certain something. We wanted it to create a different atmosphere while still maintaining the elements that make a runner beautiful and cozy.”

By quilting the runner, the designers brought elements of sofas and comforters to the floor. The result is a rug with a cushioning effect that also provides a stable surface. Trace has a versatile rectangular shape that looks great anywhere. The quilted patterns create a unique atmosphere in the room.
