The contrast present in this design is not created by the colors used, but by the execution itself. On the matte dial, there is a glossy transparent spot coating that produces this so-called "tone-on-tone" effect. The incidence of light determines the visibility of the printed time markings – sometimes they are clearly visible, almost visible, or not visible at all. Let the light dictate the "tone.".
