From the Mind of the Designer

The piece was designed by Anna Castelli-Ferrieri, who served as chief designer at her own company, Kartell, starting in the mid-1960s. The Milanese native completed her architecture studies in 1943 and married Giulio Castelli after graduation. The couple founded the furniture manufacturer in 1949. Professionally, Anna Castelli-Ferrieri initially focused on urban planning and architecture. Among other projects, she also designed the main office of her company in Binasco, Italy. She began working as a designer in the mid-1960s and served as chief designer in her own company. Additionally, she taught industrial design at the Polytechnic University of Milan until the 1990s. Her work is characterized by round shapes and clear lines.
