Hoptimist Queen

Originally, it was the Danish furniture craftsman Hans Gustav Ehrenreich (1917-1984) who designed the cheerful and cute Hoptimists in 1968. The vibrant colors and round shapes that characterize his figures were very much in line with the trends of the time. Ehrenreich participated in several international exhibitions and received numerous awards for his craftsmanship both at home and abroad.

The Hoptimists can make a difference. They can bring forth a smile and inspire a desire to take action. A smile often begins with another smile. The Hoptimists smile at you and wait for your reaction. Perhaps a smile, or maybe even a little tap that sets the figure in motion. It thanks you for your attention and bounces with an excess of energy in place. Completely predictable and every time.

Children intuitively understand this. They immediately see what the Hoptimist gives back when they touch it. The same childlike expectation makes adults want to raise their hand and gently press on the Hoptimist. The rest is mechanics. When the energy of the hand compresses the spring, the figure comes to life. Not for long, but just as we expected.
