The HP OfficeJet Pro 8122e (405U3B) does not necessarily require an HP account to use all basic print, copy and scan functions, but there are some limitations and alternatives:
- If you are using the HP Smart App, an HP account is required to use the app. - However, there are alternative methods to scan without needing an HP account. You can install the Full Feature software package with the Easy Start Wrapper, which includes the HP Scan function without the need for an HP account. - Other alternatives include using HP Scan and Capture or NAPS2, which do not require you to sign in to an HP account.
It is therefore possible to use the printer without an HP account, but the use of certain apps and services such as HP Smart requires a login.
