Plaion Jet Pilot - Jet Fighter

Air Force Colonel Shannon (John Wayne) has a spicy mission: He is to monitor the Russian pilot Anna (Janet Leigh), who has fled the USSR with a fighter jet. She is suspected of spying for the KGB to obtain secret information about the US military. However, the unlikely pair falls in love and flees together to the Soviet Union. The Russians then drug Shannon to extract secret information from him. Anna subsequently steals a fighter jet and, pursued by Soviet pilots through the clouds, makes a breathtaking flight back to the USA. It wasn't until seven years after filming ended that "Jet Pilot" was released in theaters. The reason: Producer Howard Hughes, the real-life inspiration for the film "Aviator," was not satisfied with the cuts made by Josef von Sternberg, leading to the film being revised repeatedly over that long period.
