In 1997, the legendary, anonymous notebook, which had been produced by a French manufacturer in Tours for over 100 years and had been the carrier of sketches and stories from many artists and intellectuals, was revived by a Milanese publisher. The name is attributed to the British writer Bruce Chatwin, who favored these simple black notebooks from the French paper manufacturer for his work and affectionately called them Moleskin (mole skin).
