The monochrome colours black, white, red chalk and sepia can be found in the nude courses at almost every art academy. They lend the drawings vitality, vibrancy and expressiveness. Lightened with white and the shadows darkened with black, this is an old tradition of figurative drawing from the Renaissance. Pitt monochrome chalks take up this old tradition of figurative drawing, which is why the chalks are harder than conventional pastel chalks for use in drawing. The lines therefore do not dissolve completely when the colour is smudged. The red chalks and sepia chalks are complemented by grease-free and greasy drawing pencils for details and lines.
