Founded in 1946 as Zweckform Schreibwaren und Bürobedarfs GmbH in a former cow shed in Oberlaindern, Bavaria, the company initially produced successful forms and carbon copy books, and shortly thereafter also receipt books and other office supplies. In 1956, it entered into a licensing agreement with the label company of American Stan Avery, who had developed the world's first self-adhesive labels over 20 years earlier. The sticker boom, the increasing spread of different types of printers from the 1970s, and the Post-it phenomenon have repeatedly led to expansions of the product range, and thanks to continuous modernization and expansions in all areas and new partnerships, Avery Zweckform is now successful internationally.
