Algiers, 1959. Full of enthusiasm, young Lieutenant Terrien begins his service in Algeria. He is convinced that he is fighting for the "right" cause. However, the nightmare that awaits him at the front, in the barren, unbearably hot mountains, radically changes his life. The stories whispered in secrecy are true: Terrien is horrified to catch his comrades torturing Algerian prisoners on high command orders, supposedly to extract vital information for the French army. But when Terrien discovers the brutally slaughtered bodies of his friends, who had fallen into an ambush, he begins to see the tortures in a different light...
