When I press or copy something, the printer makes a hell of a noise before it starts printing.
Is there anything I can do or do I have to take the machine in for repair?

The machine is noisy, that's for certain.  Mine has been noisy  from the day I installed it.  It hasn't become more noisy.  I don't think it needs repair as long as it keeps printing.  Let's face it, even HP printers are now cheaply made, plastic where older printers used to have metal, etc.  Any chance you could put it in an enclosed cabinet?
